Looks like I'll be returning to Antarctica

I got selected as a winter-over for the IceCube Project at South Pole. I'll be spending October 2012 to November 2013 at South Pole Station to run Ice Cube, a massive neutrino detector, for the University of Wisconsin and its collaborating institutions. Can't wait! I'm extremely excited about working on the project and with everyone who'll be involved. I've met my fellow winter-over Felipe through Facebook. He'll be coming from Chile to spend the year down there.

But first, before we go back to the deep south, I'll be spending the next few months in Madison for training and getting up to speed with IceCube. Check out the project's website for more information: www.icecube.wisc.edu

Cliff Notes: The NSF and UWisc spent 8 years drilling a 1 KM matrix of optical sensors in antarctic ice to look for neutrinos, hopefully of a cosmic source.
