It turns out my building is called the JSOC, Joint Spacecraft Operations Center. I apparently didn't get very far from the blue meatball. It ain't a NASA building unless its numbered, this one is oficially Building 189. Along the hills surrounding McMurdo are dishes and antennas which downlink data from polar orbitting satellites. The usefulness of this station is that polar orbitting spacecraft pass this point much more frequently than other points on Earth. Some of the data, probably like telemetry and tracking are available in realtime. The other nice thing is that the blue building in the left side is where I live so I have about a 50 step commute to work everyday.
My warm congratulations for your site! It helped me a lot and pleased me, especially since all of your sharing is interesting. Long life to your site. Above all, never get discouraged; your blog is really on top!ReplyDelete
